Thank you for your patience.
Your community has experienced issues with the reliability of your electric service. While some improvements have already been made, we still have work to do.
We've regularly updated your local area commissioners about our progress and continued plans to improve the electrical system. Please visit this page for information and answers to frequently asked questions.
Boosting Reliability We have installed or replaced 20,000+ feet of overhead power lines, 50,000 feet of underground power lines, 750+ electric poles and 2,000+ fuses.
Clearing the Way We have trimmed 110 miles of trees from the right of way to help ensure safer power delivery and reduce outage risks.
Work planned includes building a new substation that will include upgraded equipment and smart technology that will help minimize the number of customers affected if outages occur in your area. Beginning in 2025, we'll start serving some customers out of the new substation and expect all customers to be transferred to the new power source by the end of 2027.
While construction is underway, we're continuing to replace and improve the electric equipment that brings power to your home or business. Crews are also conducting circuit inspections to proactively find and fix problems. Additionally, our forestry team will continue routine tree trimming and removal to keep vegetation away from power lines and equipment to help minimize tree-related power outages.

Sometimes work to improve your electric service means we have to take a planned outage for crews to safely complete improvements. We'll notify you in advance through an automated phone message. Be sure we have the best number to reach you.
The new substation will improve electric service for the South Side region including areas below Livingston Avenue and above State Route 104 including Driving Park, Hungarian Village, Merion Village, Schumacher Place and Southern Orchards. The substation will also support future growth in your community by providing greater energy capacity.
To keep our crews safe as they work, a planned outage may be necessary. We will do our best to notify you in advance through an automated phone call. Review the best number to reach you.
Temporary lane closures may be needed throughout the construction process. We'll coordinate with local traffic control to minimize the impact to drivers while ensuring the safety of our crews and the community.
