What You Need to Know

• Waves of strong to severe storms producing gusty winds and heavy rainfall have continued through this morning, causing elevated outages across AEP Ohio’s service territory.
• Damaging scattered 60-80 mph wind gusts and possible tornadoes may bring trees down into power lines and equipment and cause power outages.  
• Heavy rainfall and flash flooding are also a concern, especially with trees more prone to toppling in lesser winds.
• Some additional scattered strong to severe storms may develop across overnight into tomorrow morning.
• Follow your local forecast for the latest updates on weather conditions and timing.

Always stay as far as possible from all downed lines and anything they may be touching. Report safety hazards to 911 or AEP Ohio at 800-672-2231.

AEP Ohio has over 100,000 customers without power as severe weather continues across our service area. While outages are scattered across the state, the majority are in Newark, Crooksville, Columbus and Lancaster. There are more than 1,500 field personnel on the ground and 300 mutual assistance crews coming to help assess damage and restore power. Once crews have assessed damage and restoration times are available, outage information will be shared on AEPOhio.com/OutageMap.

FLOOD SAFETY TIPS

If flooding occurs, keep yourself and your family safe with these tips from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA):

• Heed evacuation orders if local emergency managers issue them.
• Know whether you are in a flood-prone area and have a plan to protect your family and important property.
• If flooding is forecast for your area, stay off the roadways. Do not attempt to cross areas covered by water.
• Get more flood safety resources at Weather.gov.
